Jellinbah
maintains very high standards for quality measurement and control.
Minesite personnel have available detailed computer model information
of coal quality and quantities. The geological model is built from a
database of over 2000 boreholes. Drilling is conducted each year to
ensure the model is continuously updated.
The information is used to determine in-pit coal
mining horizons to meet product coal specification before the mining
process commences. During crushing and processing the coal is sampled
by fully automated, mechanical samplers. The samples are sent to the
nearby external laboratory in Blackwater for analysis.
Product coal is directed towards designated
stockpile areas from which haulage blends are proportioned to ensure
composite daily quality meets the specifications of the short term
shipping schedule.
Stockpiling processes at Boonal Train Loading
Facility provide additional homogenisation of the hauled coal. All
Jellinbah trains are sampled by another fully automated cross-belt
sampler. To view a photo of the sampling system at Boonal, please click here.
The samples are sent to the same external laboratory in Blackwater for
analysis.
Designated stockpile areas at the RG Tanna Coal
Terminal at Gladstone ensure minimal risk of contamination from other
coal types at the port. All Jellinbah ships are sampled by a fully
automated mechanical sampler. Please click here to view a detailed
flowsheet of the sampler at RG Tanna Coal Terminal.
All samplers were constructed to the appropriate
standard and undergo regular maintenance, inspection and audit for
precision and bias.
